I currently have 1 HUD loan for my 1st home and a loan I took out on commercial building that was heired to me in 1999 and paid off in 2010. Am I able to apply for additional HUD loans for residential rental house? by wagnerch691 from Hartford, Connecticut. Apr 22nd 2019 Reply


No. HUD/FHA loans generally are for owner occupied homes unless under special conditions known at time of application.

More info needed, but in general.. for your primary residence, you can use FHA... if you are looking for financing for rental properties, then HUD does lend if you meet certain criteria, specifically, if you are investing in low income housing.. This typically means apartment complexes in low income areas. If you are just looking to pick up a few rental homes, then you will not be able to use this program... you'll need to put 20% or more down to buy a rental house. .
