Both are licensed to sell real estate and both must meet the same legal standard. The main difference is that a Realtor is a member of NAR the National Association of Realtor's and with a local Association. A Realtor has a strict code of ethics and professional standards required by NAR. For a complete list of the 2014 NAR code of ethics visit this link. http://www.realtor.org/governance/governing-documents/the-code-of-ethics.....
Hi Frieda, Sean gave a good description of the difference. In my opinion, (I am not a realtor) you should choose your real estate representative based on referrals from past clients that were happy with their service and how comfortable you are with the individual more than what their title is... (I'm sure some realtors will disagree with me here!) I'm happy to help with the financing or just give you advice. If you need more information, or a competing rate quote call, email or use my live support button to discuss or get in touch with me. Ah.. reminds me of some of those questions on the S.A.T.'s.. If all Bloops are Razzies, and all Razzies are Quazo's, then are all Bloops Quazo's? Anyway.. Real estate agents and realtor's are the same thing.. the world "Realtor" is a registered trademark name owned and created by the National Association of Realtors (NAR).. only members of the association are allowed to use the term "Realtor".. but all the duties and responsibilities of a real estate agent and Realtor are identical, so All Realtor's are Real Estate Agents, and all Real estate agents are Realtors.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J.
