Is a HELOC loan application still worth it?

My wife and I are considering applying for a HELOC but are wary if it is worth the time since the pandemic hit. I am with good standing with my credit with decent scores in the 700s. I have been working with the same company for 22 years while my wife has been at her job for the past 10 years.
