My lender just asked me to prove 12 months of rent but my boyfriend pays it. What should I tell my lender?? by nlewis22742 from , California. Aug 27th 2014
Tell the lender and they should be able to help you figure out options. They may be able to order a verification of rent if it is a professional management company. If he lives with you and will continue to do so there may be a way to include that info - but you have to be honest about the situation.
Not all loan programs require a rental history. Talk to your loan officer...
The situation appears to be that you simply don't pay rent, which is fine; there are a number of applicants who live with family and friends rent free before buying a house. As long as your other qualification factors are strong (ie, income, assets, credit score, and any prior rental history), this should not be a problem. Feel free to check with me on any concerns. Tell him the truth, and let him do what he's paid to do.. It's possible he can get this stipulation waived or prove the rent is paid through the boyfriend... Not every lender requires a verification of rental payments, so he cannot find a way around it, he can choose another investor who will do your loan without rental verification.
