if I modified my mortgage with HAMP, can I still do a HARP refinance?

I'd like to capitalize on these low rates if possible by WCaire_824_359 from Greenwood Village, Colorado. Sep 18th 2012 Reply

Many of our investors will not allow for a refinance after a modification has been done. Typically, in order to get the modification done you would have been late on the mortgage. Most investors require no more than 1 30 day late in a 12 month period and no more than 2 in a 24 month period, so a lot if it will depend on your current credit history.

Most lenders will not do a HARP refi if there was a modification.. if the mortgage history shows any lates at all, it's becomes difficult.. if there is more than one showing, it's near impossible.. You can try, and I'm sure lenders on this site will tell you it can get done, but don't get your hopes up.. it won't be easy, if it's possible at all... I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

If you had a modification done, odds are your credit report will show multiple late mortgage payments. If this is the case, you won't get approved for a refi. If the mod was done & your credit report shows no lates, you should be able to get it done. Obtain a copy of your credit report & that will give you your answer.
