Just for clarification, I believe your asking about building with a "new construction" home and not a "rehabilitation loan".. For construction loans, there are lenders out there that will do them, but there are not many.. Since the mortgage collapse, the number one, hardest hit loans were construction loans. The lender agreed to lend for the construction of a new home, and 9 months to a year later when the home was complete, the home was worth half of what the lender paid out.. this was one of the biggest area's for lender losses, so as you can imagine, most have become a bit "gun shy" so to speak. That being said, there are a few out there that will do them, so if you find one, just be sure they can prove to you they have actually closed on some..
