Start by talking to your current loan servicer.. There are laws in place where your lender must help you to avoid foreclosure.. but ultimately, you have to make payments.. if you are unable to, then you might be better off selling now to avoid the foreclosure.. Hi Verona - there are also organizations out there that provide assistance in talking to your lender for free. In Lansing there is a HUD approved and funded organization called The Center for Financial Health. If you call them they should have a recomendation for an equally good organization in the Metro Detroit area. Their number is 517-708-2550.
