I hate to receive calls from random companies. Is there a place I can do shop and compare? Are the rates on this site accuirate? by shermantheman790 from Irvine, California. Mar 14th 2014
If you would rather not receive calls from random companies, the best approach is to reach out to a few on your own. Any reputable lender should be able to give you a rate quote if you call them and provide your information (basics, nothing personal). It is important to realize that rate isn't the only factor in who you choose. A few things to think about: Will the lender close on time or will you have to pay for extensions if they take too long? Will the lender actually lock your rate when you request it? Will you receive timely information? Will you have to hunt down someone to talk to at the company you use or can you reach your loan officer directly?
In order to receive the best rate I would first check with your local credit union. I then would deal with an expert Mortgage broker in your area. Keep the interest rate and fees a secret and then compare both offers. It is imperative you price your loan with both on the same day. The rates can change sometimes three times a day due to market volatility.
