If you plan on building a home right away it is much easier to obtain a loanVA zero downFHA 3.5%There is also a 95% conventional out there but I don't know who the lender is.I can originate the VA and FHA, you are allowed to refinance after the house is completed and you move in.

There are no conforming loan guidelines for land loans.. each lender who lends on land will have their own set of rules... but in general, you will need 20% to 40% for down payment and yes.. they will need to look at your credit... Yes a lender whether it be to finance a lot or do a construction loan will need to check your credit. You will need to go to a lender that does land loans.
