It depends on the loan program you go with or qualify for.. For USDA, zero down, but the home must be in a USDA defined area.. VA is zero down, but you must have VA benefits available to you. Conventional is 3% down for First time home buyers, otherwise it's 5% .. and FHA will do it with 3.5% down.. This is only in regards to the required down payment.. Additionally, you will have closing costs.. those can range from 2% to 4% of the sale price, but there are several ways to get them paid.. you can ask the seller to contribute towards your closing costs.. you can ask your lender to contribute.. you can ask your R/E agent to contribute, or you can pay them yourself.. If you want to know for sure,, try contacting a local mortgage pro and let them look at your complete loan profile. I'm a preferred Lender with California and Arizona being my primary markets. The answer is - we don't know. This is simply because there are so many variables, and credit score is just one of them. It may be as little as zero, and goes up from there. Contact a local mortgage broker in your area, give them a complete application, and they can answer the question for you based on your personal situation.
