I had a loan modification completed in September of 2015. The company that owned the mortgage sold it. It was then sold again but the original company that I did the modification with still "services" the loan. They keep telling me that the loan is current but refuse to send me any documentation stating that. There is money missing from the escrow that they say was for legal fees that I was responsible for when they sold the loan but I don't understand how I am responsible when I didn't know they were selling the loan. Over $1400. I want to refinance just to get the house out of their hands. I am fine with a higher payment due to the fact that I rent the house out for double the mortgage. How long should I wait and do I have a shot with getting it refinanced? by adam.c.lewis2568 from Millersville, Maryland. Apr 11th 2016
Typically, lenders will not refinance a modified loan until you have made 24 months payments.. but also, it depends on how the modification was done.. If there was principal reduction, then you will not be able to refinance it.. if there wasn't, then it's possible after 2 years.. as far as them hitting your impound account for legal fees, that's the first I have ever heard of this.. I would check with your local attorney generals office and ask for guidance. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona.
