is this done through my lender? or do i need it before getting the mortgage/home like i always had to do with my renters insurance. also, will the property type affect my homeowners insurance rate? i am a first time buyer bear with me by derell3jana2002383 from Rosemount, Minnesota. Jun 5th 2014
You would not want to go through the lender for insurance. Shop around. Provide them your basic info, your property address, property type and loan amount and they can give you the quote. Start with who hold your auto insurance now. Property type does affect the rates. Insurance must be in place before a lender will fund your loan. Good luck!
Homeowner's insurance is provided by an insurance agent. You can check with your renter's agent. The lender doesn't provide insurance for you.Good luck!
You get to shop and pick your own home owners insurance company.. The rate is based on many factors such as property age, location, zip code, condition, construction & materials type, as well as your credit history.. if you have a renters policy now, or you have an agent who is insuring your auto, you should call them for a quote. .. Once you find a home, then you would shop for your Homeowners insurance. The insurance agent would typically request a copy of the appraisal so that they will know the size and age of the home, etc... I recommend calling the agent that has your auto insurance, as many times you can get a multi-line discount. I can help get you started with the mortgage pre-approval process and then go from there. If you would like a local insurance broker then try my wife Nicole 651-214-9675. She will shop top rated companies for you. Its always a good idea to try several places so shop her against your current company or a national big company. I think you will find she offers a great value.
