I'd like to know if there is anything online that can help me assess that. by kristi_929_700 from Bingham Canyon, Utah. Sep 13th 2012

You can use Zillow or Chase Home Value Finder...take an average between those two and you will have a fair idea of your homes value although nothing can replace an actual appraisal but those cost $400.

Without actually paying for an appraisal, everything else is just an estimate.. you can use Zillow.com, Trulia.com or your county's website to look at similar properties... or you can contact a local real estate agent.. they will do a property evaluation for no charge in most cases.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

Utah is tough because it's a "non disclosure state" meaning when a property sells, the sold amount does not have to be made public. When I check values in CA, I can run a report in just a couple minutes and typically get close to what it will end up appraising for. I like the Chase home estimator site. It's a bit hard to find, so here is the link https://www.chase.com/online/Home-Lending/home-value-estimator.htm Some home loans do not require that you have equity so even if you check and you are upside down, you might want to look into a HARP program with a reputable loan officer/company.

To get a good idea on what your value is do a google search on your property address and go down the list of results.

Zillow, Trulia, Chase Home Value Finder

There is NO great way to get a great number without an appraisal. Web sites like Zillow and Trulia are a joke. County tax records tend to be a bit closer, but can still be way off too.

The answers above are correct - Zillow, Chase Home Value Finder - and your county tax valuation which as Paul said might be a bit low. I have a program that looks at the tax valuation, comps in the area, features, etc. If you want to call me at 801.550.1222 or email me the address at linda@lindamillergroup.com I will look it up for you. Hi Kristi,Trulia.com also offers comparable's, if you can find a few that have sold within the last 6 months and within 1/2 mile of you with similar characteristics, spare footage, age, lot size, style etc. Then you might be able to get a better idea. You might be able to find additional relevant information of the Google search mentioned earlier.
