Getting pre qualified requires you contact a mortgage professional and they will run your credit to get determine your credit score.. because of the potential fraud issues, the lender must use their own credit report, not one you provided.. Most lenders will pre approve you for free.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Following up on Williams comment, you will not have a truly valid lender prequalification if they do not check your credit directly. We need an accurate credit report because it is much more than just the actual score that is reviewed, and the majority of people we speak with don't really know their true credit score. There should not be any cost to you for the prequalification, if there is, just call another lender!

Your best option is to interview a few lenders (via phone or email) and find the one that you feel comfortable with. Lenders can only work with "theoretical" credit credit scores and cannot give you a pre-qual based on that. Once you find the lender that understands your scenario, then you should allow them to run your credit report.

Hi Leona! To have a proper pre qualification or pre approval done you will need to provide2 years tax returns, 2 years w-2's, 30 days most recent paystubs and 60 days most recent bank statements. The loan officer can then pre qualify you based on what he/she sees when reviewing you file. The Loan Officer will run your credit with your permission. Most realtors and sellers like a pre qualification letter that states you credit, income, and assets have been reviewed. Please e-mail me at pete.bass@everbank.com. I would be happy to assist you.

I agree with what the others have said. I did just put up a blog post about managing your credit score and you might find it interesting reading. Go my profile and click on the blog and you'll see it. Sorry I can't help you in Tennessee (I only operate in CO) but good luck! Chris Neuswanger "The Mountain Mortgage Guy" www.mtnmortgageguy.com

There is no way to pre-approve you without looking at your credit. Most people have an unrealistic fear of having their credit score lowered by people looking at it. This is largely unfounded in truth, UNLESS you've had A LOT of people look in the past 90-days. Don't worry about it - just do it. Lending in WI, MN, and SD - www.WI-MortgageBroker.com
