One of the fastest ways to raise many clients credit scores is by paying down the credit balances to less than 50% of the high credit limit. Sometimes opening a new account can raise an individuals score if they don't currently have any open account, but this is something you have to be very careful in doing as it is different for every individual. Another way to make sure any erroneous info is removed from your report, especially if it was a recent derogatory item. Almost every loan officer's credit provider has a program to analyze a credit to see what can be done to quickly improve a clients score. However, also having 26 years of experience as a mortgage lender allows me a little more insight than most, and I am licensed in WVA. Everyone is different, but with a score that low, it's not going to happen over night.. Also, it really depends on why your score is so low.. if you have a BK, short sale, foreclosure, unpaid taxes, unpaid student loans, judgement.. you could have a 750 credit score, yet with one of these credit deficiencies, you still might be denied.. Lenders need to analyze your complete loan profile to determine one's eligibility.. not just the credit scores.. for this reason, I suggest you contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Once they see your complete loan profile, they will be better equipped to advise you properly. Also, by applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with many lenders with each one offering a different type of lending program. This is unlike the local bank which typically only has a few lending programs. The more lenders, the more lending options, and the more likely your scenario will be accepted.. Plus, the broker is experienced in seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario, and he has lower overhead which typically results in lower rates and fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J.
