I recently found out that my Loan Officers license in CA expired 10 months ago. What should I do - we are in escrow? by josem890 from Bakersfield, California. Dec 3rd 2018
I'm not saying you are wrong, but there are so many checks and balances, it's highly unlikely that an unlicensed loan officer would be involved in a loan. But to be sure, you should first check with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS Consumer access).. and look up the loan officer. This is where you can see if his license is actually valid or expired.. This the Federal Government's portal and its updated several times a day.. so it's very accurate. if it's expired, then you should call the CFPB and file a complaint, but that won't help your loan closing. If you are sure the loan officer is not licensed, and yet the mortgage company who employ's this person knew about it. .then you should definitely halt everything and find another lender. ( I'm licensed in CA).. I'm a preferred Lender with California and Arizona being my primary markets. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com NMLS# 226347 / LendUS, NMLS 1938/ AZMB0121893
Hard to understand how this could even remotely happen?? License renewals are started in November each year, and after January 1, you would be unlicensed. Haven't you done any loans since January 1? I don't know any lender that doesn't check the status of their employees each year, and even brokered loan, the broker checks to see if you are valid before approving the loan. But simply, you are not licensed, and can't do a loan. This file will need to be cancelled and restarted from scratch with a licensed loan officer.
