Short answer is yes. The file is ran thru an automated score card that will let the lender know if it is acceptable or not and that score card will look at credit as one of the factors.
Credit Scores do factor in with a HARP loan, but overall, they are more forgiving than a regular refinance.
Yes and no.. Although HARP guidelines do not state a minimum credit score, the reality is that your file is run through an automated underwriting system (AUS)and the results produced from entering in all your loan details determine your eligibility.. if you had a foreclosure, short sale or BK, then the normal guidelines would disallow these borrowers, but for HARP refi's, you still might be approved depending on other strong compensating factors that the AUS determine to be of value. The advantage in today's market for the HARP loans is not so much helping with the value and loan amount owed. But it is more forgiving on those with less than perfect credit. Depending on credit you may also want to consider an FHA loan as the Mortgage Insurance Premiums were decreased this spring and also the most forgiving on rates. But there would be mortgage insurance. But could be worth analyzing depending on what your current loan situation looks like.
