If they see water/leaking they will site that it get inspected/repaired. If the water is not on in the home, you will have definite issues getting an FHA mortgage loan.
If the leaks are visible.
They don't specifically go looking for that but anything noticable will definitely be picked up. If that is a major issue with the house, you (or your buyer if you are the seller) can use a FHA repair escrow or renovation loan (203k) to fix the problem and effectively wrap the cost of the repairs into the purchase price and mortgage. FHA inspections are not the same as a home inspection.. the appraiser is looking for property deficiencies that affect the habitability, safety, and health concerns. if he sees a pipe leaking, he will notate it.. but he is not going to climb in the attic and inspect every connection like a home inspector would do..
