"To whom it may concern: Regarding the wrong social security number on my credit report. I have no idea how this incorrect SS number has appeared on my credit report. I have never applied for credit using that number, nor have I ever used that number. Feel free to contact me with any further questions." That should work.. It's very possible you applied for credit somewhere and the person imputing the SS # did it incorrectly.. this happens more often then you might think.. it's also possible that there is someone else with the same name as you and it's pulling their social security number and displaying it on your report.. But the lender is covering their you know what, so they ask you to explain it just in case your file goes into default in the future, they don't have to buy the loan back because they didn't verify/ask about this dependency on your report. I would suggest looking on Craigslist under 'Gigs'. You can hire a freelance writer to assist you with any writing you may need.
How far are you in the loan process? It's surprising your lender hasn't helped you with this. If your lender isn't helping you with this and you don't have much time invested in the process, I'd consider asking your Realtor for other Lender referrals. Best of luck to you.
The best and easiest way is to just wright whats going on with the SS number and how you are working on it.
