I am looking at a property that has a spring fed cistern. I am approved for a USDA loan and my lender "doesn't think" it should be a problem with the loan and that USDA will approve it. Cisterns are common in the area and public water is not available... Is this true? by mpanigal827 from Indiana, Pennsylvania. Dec 6th 2013
That is a good question. To make sure I would contact or have your loan officer contact your States USDA office. State Office The USDA Rural Development State Office is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, EST. If you have a Freedom of Information Act Request, please contact: Dawn Bonsell (717) 237-2286.USDA Rural DevelopmentPennsylvania State OfficeOne Credit Union Place, STE 330Harrisburg, PA 17110-2912 Main Telephone Number: (717) 237-2299 Fax Number: (717) 237-2191 TDD/Voice Number: 711TTY/TDD Only: (717) 237-2261
USDA does require well and septic tests. If it is common for the area, and is working, you should not have any issues. www.MortgagesUnlimited.biz/USDA
