Can you use an FHA loan to buy an investment property?

Can you use an FHA loan to buy an investment property?I am a first-time home buyer and am looking to buy an investment property (before my own home, though I am currently looking) using an FHA loan. I know it sounds insane, but it's the nature of my current situation, so please don't bash me. by michelle1974 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nov 16th 2009 Reply

FHA loans can be used to purchase or re-finance an owner occupied property only. There are exceptions for occupancy when a property has an FHA loan in place and the owner moves out but you cannot use one for purchase of a property that you do not intend to occupy as your primary residence.
