Yes, you can. Depending on your lender, as long as you did not have a principle reduction on the modification, you should be fine. You can also inquire about the HARP program as well.
First , who is your lender?? and where you behind before the loan modification? i use to do loan mods in 2008 and 2009, so i know the ends and outs of them.. you can email at yourloanpartnerforlife@live.com linda
Donna, from what you describe the modification should not prevent you from refinancing as long as you meet all the other qualifications and requirements.
You can refinance after the modification has been permanent for 1 year or more.Mark E. Ary, MBASenior Licensed Loan OriginatorNMLS # 499320239-549-1997

Without knowing all the details of your scenario, no one here can say for sure.. typically, if you had a modification and there was no principal reduction, then yes.. you should be able to refinance, assuming you meet all the other qualifications.. There are other types of refinance programs that might work even if you have had a principal reduction, but you would have to have sufficient equity in your home to qualify.. so without knowing all the details, it's hard to say.. The best advice I can give you is to contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Do not use the local "Big" bank, or one of those 50 states internet lenders or nationwide lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. Because he has lower overhead, he can offer you lower rates and lower fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J.
