Can I change lenders after I purchase my home?

If you mean can you change who services your mortgage after purchase, the answer is no and yes. No you cannot just change them to someone else if you don't like them; Yes you can effectively change them by refinancing. Note that refinancing just to change your mortgage servicer would not be a very wise idea and would not guarantee that you wouldn't end up with them again anyway. Since mortgages are often sold on the secondary market, you could end up at square one. It's best to address whatever issues you may have directly with your mortgage servicer and resolve whatever the conflict is. It truly makes no difference who services your loan, all you do is write a check to them. 99.9% of the time if you pay on time, you will never even hear from them or ever have a need to contact them, it's only when payments are missed or slow, when you experience their customer service or lack-thereof; and that isn't really their fault, now is it?
