I have been to a few of the bigger banks, just looking for advice and they have not been helpful. We went through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy 3 years ago (March 2011). We spent two years without credit cards (but started adding some student loans, we will both have earned our BAs this year!) In March 2013 we opened secured cards to help get our credit score out of the gutter. My credit is currently on the lower end or middle of Fair range, depending on what credit agency you talk to. There are numerous duplicates and errors on my credit report that have just come to my attention and I am about to start disputing. My husband and I moved in with family to begin saving for a down payment, but we want to be in the best possible position once we have that together in about a year. Can anyone help point us in the right direction? by Samantha O from Danbury, Connecticut. Jan 17th 2014
First, contact a local mortgage broker. Generally speaking, bank loan officers are really just unlicensed application clerks... I constantly hear from my clients how less than helpful they usually are. It sounds like you are doing everything you should be doing. Working to remove old bad information, and having good current active credit should get you where you need to be... Good luck...
