Are there any mortgage programs for the disabled

I am writing this question on behalf of my cousin. She is disabled and was wondering if there are any loan programs out there that can make obtaining a mortgage easier for her and her situation by nickj3 from Miami, Florida. Jun 29th 2010 Reply

I don't know of any specific programs, but the disability income can surely be used to qualify. Have you applied to see what is available?

If you haven't already, you may also want to check into community development block grants. Most cities/communities have grant programs available for things like first time homebuyer down payments, etc.; or, they can direct you to organizations that might have a grant/assistance program available. One of the items I've seen on these lists before is money to aid with any property improvements/modifications necessary to make the home more functional for people with disabilities, such as building wheelchair ramps, etc. You might be surprised at what you find. Best wishes to you and your cousin!
