Applying for a mortgage through credit union

If I apply for a mortgage at the credit union where I do my primary banking, can their loan application people look at my banking history with them, or only at the documents I submit with my application? For example, if I submit my January statement from them, can they look at previous months' statements that I didn't submit? by klente_157_665 from Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Sep 2nd 2011 Reply

Although I don't work for a credit union I would almost assume that you already have some sort of internal credit ranking established with the credit union based on your overall account managment. For mortgage brokers - if a borrower has issues with bank statements we order verifications of deposits to be completed that typically avoids the negative information and can get us through the asset documentation process. If your concerned, try calling a local broker in your area and being upfront about your concern - you'd be surprised how much we can help. Good Luck!

My experience is that "most" banks and credit union Mortgage Loan Officers do not have access to look at your other accounts within their firm. If I am reading between the lines, why don't you simply use a different lender? Credit Unions and banks are beat every single day by non-bank lenders.
