Yes you can. typically the biggest hurdle is if there was any debt foregivness.Debt "Foregivness" and "Forbearance" or totally seperate. Get with a lender411 Loan officer to go over your situation.
Yes. You may have to repay any "forgiveness" of principal.
There are so much more information necessary to properly answer your question, there's no way anyone can give you a definitive yes or no... in general, you can refinance a modified loan.. Most lenders will modify a loan if there was no principal reduction, and 2 years has passed.. other lenders say that if there was a reduction of principal, they wont do it or you have to wait 7 years.. without knowing the specifics of your transaction, it's hard to say.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com
As Rusty said, the details matter: when you did the refinance; whether you have been late on the mortgage payment since the modification; type of mortgage; etc. With that info we can more accurately advise you. Example: if it was a conventional (Fannie Mae) loan and you have made at least 24 on-time payments, OR it is eligible for the HARP refinance program you may have options. Depending on the terms of the modification you may not see a significant difference in payment.
