A Lender In Another State

I found what seems to be a great lender on this website, problem is that he works in another state...he assures me he can handle my loan. Is this normal? by makenzi938 from Miami, Florida. Aug 31st 2010 Reply

Yes, this is normal. I am one of the "we lend in 50 states" guys. I am the a Branch Manager of Freedom Mortgage. Freedom Mortgage is a Direct Lender and has been around for over 23 years. Whenever I speak to someone in a state that I am personally not licensed, the loan will be referred to one of our loan officers that is licensed in your state and has local knowledge of the laws in your state. Either way, the service to you the customer is always the same. Our process is a seamless one and has worked well for many years. Besides that, we are generally more competitive than most of our competitors. I can be reached at adennie@fmbranch.com. Thank you.

Ask them if they are personally licensed in your state. Not just the company, but the loan officer. There are differences in how loans are handled in each state and having a licensed, local loan officer can save you from headaches. The "we lend in 50 states" guys are fine, but they don't have the local knowledge to foresee some of the pitfalls that may be unique to your area. Also, it never hurts to stay local and support your own community. Spending money in your state benefits you in the long run. That's my opinion.

It is normal. As a matter of fact you will find that lenders who are licensed in multiple states very rarely have physical presence in each of them (unless state requires that). But I do agree with the previous answer that doing business locally has it's benefits.

PS: I am personally licensed in the State of Florida and located in Miami. I see that you are as well. Please give me a call directly to discuss how we can give you a better rate than you were already quoted. :) 305-974-0330

It is very normal for a mortgage lender to be licensed in multiple stats, you just need to make sure the Mortgage Loan Originator working with you is familiar with states specific mortgage rules and guidelines.
