You should first go on the VA site and obtain your Certificate of Eligibility to make sure you are eligible for a VA loan and your lender will need it. Then apply to get Pre-Approved with a VA lender before looking at homes, so that you know how much you can afford and so that you have a pre-approval letter to send to a potential seller. Here is how to obtain your Certificate of Eligibility: https://www.va.gov/housing-assistance/home-loans/how-to-apply/

If this is your first home purchase, you want to align yourself with the right type of lender. I recommend choosing a Mortgage Broker with years of experience and expertise in VA lending.
