It depends if there was a home that was part of your BK and which type of BK you filed.. CH7 or CH13.. If there was a home involved, then the time line would be 4 to 7 years for conventional. If there was no home or foreclosure associated with the BK, then CH13 is 2 years, and CH7 is 2 to 4 years depending on circumstances.. FHA allows for a mortgage 12 months after with documented 20% reduction in income and no late payments on ANY obligation in the last 12 months.. Every scenario is different, so you should really contact a local mortgage broker and let him look at your complete profile.. only then can someone advise you correctly.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Hi Dorothy, You have to wait four years for a conventional loan. If you use FHA financing the wait time is only two years.

As Jennifer stated, two to four years. Work on your credit during the wait.
