$100 + to change my name?

I got married and my mortgage lender wants to charge me over 100 dollars just to change my name...is this legal? who can help by heidi938 from Hesperia, California. Aug 25th 2010 Reply

Yes, I believe that is legal and probably justifiable.Why do you need to change your name on the mortgage loan? That's not required, at least to my knowledge. Just give them a change in address, even if you didn't move with your new last name. That should suffice. .... Happy funding, Rudi

I agree with CaJumboLoans. I believe it is legal and probably justifiable. Does part of that process include changing your vesting on the title to the home, too? That would incur some hard costs, not to mention the administrative costs involved in completing this. It's not as simple as just retyping your name in a computer since there are legal documents involved. What do you hope to accomplish by changing your name on the loan?
