We are current starting the process of purchasing a home with a full 203k mortgage. Will the Bank allow us to buy/finance kitchen cabinets on our own. And just make the installation of the cabinet part of the 203k plan.

Depends on the lender, not if you are financing the cabinets. Make this an interview question when you are shopping lenders. If you had the cabinets before the bid submission part of the 203k it becomes very likely you would be able to do so.

Yes... You are able to "buy" items like cabinets, but you are not allowed to install them. I just closed a Minnesota 203k loan under similar circumstances, except it was windows that the client bought. I only lend in MN and WI, but for more info, view http://joemetzler.com/203k_in_MN.htm

203K's are very specific about the work being performed by licensed, bonded, insured contractors.. so you should be able to purchase the cabinets, but the installation would have to be done by the contractor.. .. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

Yes. In fact, you can have the money for the cabinets released at closing so it can be paid for in advance to avoid delays. I am not licensed in NY, but feel free to call me at 610-308-9001 and I can direct you to someone who is. Ed Fallon, Allied Mortgage Group
