Loan Application with no Credit Score

I live in Arizona and I’m planning to buy my first home. The problem is I don’t have a credit score. My agent told me not to worry because we can perform manual underwriting instead. Is this true for all lenders? What are the chances of approval? by meinkej306 from Phoenix, Arizona. Oct 21st 2021 Reply

Typically this is for an FHA loan. Yes, it can be done.

Yes, no, and maybe. technically yes, it may be possible with an FHA loan. You have to prove an "alternative" credit profile, like prove you've been paying rent, utilities, etc. Most lenders no longer offer this type of loan, but a few will. A much better piece of advice is to actually build a real credit history. I generally advise clients to get two credit cards of any kind. Once you get them, DO NOT use them, or just a tiny little bit. Put your Netflix or something on there, and that is it. After as little as 6 months, you'll now have a real credit history, and this will open up a lot of options. I lend in MN WI IA ND SD.
