It all depends on the transaction. If its a refinance, they are generally faster than a home purchase loan. Most purchase loans are completed within 30 days and refinances can be done as short as 2 weeks. Short sales can take 30-90 days or more. If there are issues with the home appraisal or other issues with the home itself, then the process can take longer than expected.

Both a refinance and home purchase should be able to be completed in under 30 business days.

Average is 30 to 45 days.
