I will have to agree with Phil Hills that it is possible for some lenders to pre approvethe same day. What is required is for the loan officer to review all documents that will be required for Underwriting approval on the loan. Within the day they can, with the support of an automated underwriting approval and their lender's rules on providing a pre-approval, provide you a good pre approval letter, which can be backed up with the automated underwrite if necessary.
