The best advice I can give you is to contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Once they see your complete loan profile, they will be better equipped to advise you properly. Also, by applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with many lenders with each one offering a different type of lending program. This is unlike the local bank which typically only has a few lending programs. The more lenders, the more lending options, and the more likely your scenario will be accepted.. Plus, the broker is experienced in seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario, and he has lower overhead which typically results in lower rates and fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Hello and Great day to you! For assistance with a Reverse Mortgage you can contact a Local Mortgage Professional in your state and you can find them at www.namb.org NAMB, The Association of Mortgage Professionals. I would also recommend that you visit the HUD website at www.hud.gov and there is a lot of wonderful information available to seniors. AARP also has a booklet that gives seniors information with regard to Reverse. I cannot do loans in NY, but am happy to answer any questions you may have at 720-670-0124.
We do reverse mortgages in Colorado, if you are located here I'd be happy to assist, check out my web site just for reverse mortgages: www.getareverse.info There are two main things to look for when comparing quotes on reverse mortgages, the margin the interest rate will be pegged at (if you get a adjustable, which most people do) and the closing costs. The margin can range between the low 2% range and the high 3% range, and this can make thousands of dollars a year difference in how much interest accrues. The closing costs, particularly on a adjustable, can also vary thousands of dollars. Feel free to call me at Macro Financial Group at 970-748-0342
