After reversing a mortgage years ago....my financial situation is bad. I live on SS only. I do keep the house up and pay the taxes. Can I request an additional amount of money from the bank that owns my home now? by nhmayo@hotmail.com from Commerce Twp., Michigan. Aug 5th 2010
You can do a refinance on a reverse mortgage assuming you have the equity to do so. I would be happy to run a scenario for you if you like. I can be reached at 520-907-3225 and my name is Sandy McKee. Thank you.
I believe I answered your question from another post. Do you know if you originally did this with a Line of Credit? If so, you should be able to draw against that again. Otherwise, just the increase in your age will allow you to take a larger percentage of equity from your home in relation to it's current market value. I'm not sure what things are like where you are, but sometimes you can also find special community programs that will help senior citizens in bad financial situations; check with your local city and county to see if they have any programs like this.
Before you dig yourself into a deeper hole, I suggest you talk with a City, County or State Assistance Agency. If you are having a hard time meeting your basic needs, without paying rent or a mortgage payment, you need some sort of financial assistance. If you don't have someone that can consul you, speak with someone at Legal Aid, City Senior Center, or at your place of worship. .... Best wishes, Rudi
