Can I do a FHA Streamline Refi Loan without living on the property?

I moved out of the home a few years ago, and am looking to reduce my monthly payment. Do any banks out there offer this service? by Garret.Pol56347 from Albion, Illinois. Aug 31st 2015 Reply

FHA does allow for their Streamline program to be used for properties which have been converted investment use, but most lenders will only do a Streamline refinance on a primary residence loan. You'll have to do some research to find a lender willing to do one on an investment property.

Yes.. this is allowed however the rules are a little different as to how much can be financed, but yes.. this is done all the time.. out of my 21 different lenders, 18 of them will allow for streamline on non-owner occupied FHA loans.. it's not a hard loan product to find.. Try contacting a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Once they see your complete loan profile, they will be better equipped to advise you properly. Also, by applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with many lenders with each one offering a different type of lending program. This is unlike the local bank which typically only has a few lending programs. The more lenders, the more lending options, and the more likely your scenario will be accepted.. Plus, the broker is experienced in seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario, and he has lower overhead which typically results in lower rates and fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J.
